Breakdown cover

Renewal due soon. Currently with AA. Last year we got a quote from Green Flag, and down from the ridiculous renewal quote the AA couldn't match GF but came down still higher but to within about a tenner, so we stayed with them. This year the AA quote came in even higher than last year, so I went on the 'net and looked again at Green Flag. Now there is a bit of confusion here. Firstly, the quotes are for 'on-line' as opposed to phone arrangements. Fair enough. I have also read that GF do cover your caravan under their policies. But after viewing the cost I entered 'Caravan cover' and got the same quote details. I am a bit mystified and will call them for clarification. The figures come out way below the AA so it is likely that we will change this year.

The AA are getting silly with their prices ,green flag are the c&m club breakdown service so will cope with caravans,
Have you looked at bank accounts or insurance policies that include it .
My nationwide use Britannia rescue and my car insurance use the RAC .

Last year we joined the C&CC to use their sites and to join the local DA. We also moved to RAC breakdown cover.

This year we will not be renewing with C&CC as all the rallies are on non EHU sites and we have not had the opportunity to use and of their CS or main sites.
We will get our breakdown cover through the CMC this year as Mayday have always been good when we have had an issue. The big plus is that they are a lot cheaper if you have two cars and the top level cover which includes a chauffeur.

I've been with Green Flag a number of years now, Used them once, brought us back from Cornwall, when gear box pacted in.
If I have one issue is that we had to change trucks twice, drivers short on time apparently.

Thanks all for the inputs. Well, after 18 years with them, I'm leaving the AA. Last year I nearly went over to Green Flag. When I contacted AA to advise we were leaving, they took it down by just under 90 GBP, but even though it was still 20 dearer than the GF, we decided to stay. This year they want 177, so no contest with GF at just over 60. We don't need home start; that would only have saved us about 60-odd from AA.

The agent, during the PC 'chat', confirmed that with the cover we are getting we can be brought home from anywhere if the car can't be fixed, with or withut the caravan on.

Dave - looks like I'm in good company here, you're with GF too.

Cheers All
Pete

Does it include "Onward travel"? We have Home Start included even though we have two cars.

I Should say, I'm with the Caravan Club version, Mayday, which is Green Flag, cost me £74 this year

I opted not to have forward travel, as if we have problems en route to a destination either with or withut the caravan on, I would sooner get it home and fix it here. Also for same reason home start not needed. (two mechanics in the family and stated tongue in cheek....lol...)
