Upgrading to a static

Hi all
I'm a permanent wheelchair user . We have a tourer but I can't use the bathroom so am thinking of upgrading to a static.
Any horror stories before we shell out shed loads of money please.
This means we can stay a week at a time rather than a couple of nights and then back home.

Just so undecided.
We've had the tourer for 5-6 years. Having a static would make a world of difference though

Many thanks

The small print in the contract is critical. Many sites will only allow you to buy and sell through them. For example you buy a static for £30k and then 2 years later you want to sell it. The landowner offers you £11k but sells it on for 20K pocketing the difference. The example has happened to two friends of ours.
The other ruse is stating that statics over 10 years old need to be removed. Watch out for service costs which can be between £2k and £3k. We opted for a Buccaneer caravan and you can use a wheel chair to get to the bathroom on some models.
Obviously there are many decent sites out there where the owners are honest and not greedy so you need to spend a lot of time doing research before deciding what is best. The biggest drawback is if your neighbours are the neighbours from heel you are stuck with them for the duration.
Sometimes I pretend to be normal, but it gets boring so I go back to being me.

My parents got caught out by the small print, in exactly the same way decades ago. The site owner sold them the static, then a couple of years later declared it had to be moved off the site as too old. He then got the static for nothing and resold it, as it was too costly to move.

CHECK ALL the details, before signing.

This is why I would never consider buying a static, site owners have you over a barrel.

Whatever you do can I wish you every success and say how much I appreciate why you are considering a Static. Whilst I am not yet in a wheelchair, days like today remind me how close I am and having to deal with small bathrooms and van set up it is not easy.
All the very best and remain with us as static members are welcome also.
