Abi Disco 1988 4 50S

Hi everyone!
Me and my partner have recently purchased an old caravan so we can go away with our new son.
I am wondering if anyone can help with an electrical question as i cant find any manuals or wiring diagrams online.
The 240v is working fine when i connect it up however the 12v isnt working as there is no leisure battery. There are two connectors to connect a battery too however i also wanted to know how to establish if a charging relay has been installed to charge the batter when towing and when plugged into the mains.
Do i simply need to purchase any leisure battery then connect it up to these two connectors? They look like the connectors that are on the end of a set of jump leads.

I have attached some pictures too
Thanks a lot for your help

Tom, Lauren and Max.

Hi welcome to the forum, the information you need, may already be on the forum, if not.

This will maybe help with the 12 V circuits, I would get the 230 v circuits checked, that looks like a domestic fuse box??

Would a caravan of that age have a dedicated battery box as there are dangers with having a 12v battery inside a caravan.

Hi Tom. Exciting times with plans to get away with your partner and new son. Looking at the pictures someone has had a DIY attempt at wiring and not very well. My advice to you is to bite the bullet and get a full van inspection done by a mobile caravan engineer. A van of that age could have serious hidden faults. You'd feel terrible if an accident hurt your family for the sake of a few quid. They should check brakes, chassis, suspension, tyres, gas, water supply, body fixings and do a damp check for you. They would certainly test the electrics and would probably make the wiring safe at the same time. Once you have the complete picture you can go away knowing things are right.
All the best Brian

Hi
rats s nest springs to mind 12 dc and 230 volt

from the pics looks like the 230 volt system is not installed by Abi but after market

ABI no longer support tours
Zig supplied zig control panels made and branded ABI

If the windows have a 17 digit code it will be post 1992 model year

is there a seperate door locker for the van battery

to get aroxx year :-fitted euipment ie water heater / room heater will have a manuacturers lable

the zip panel :- writing at the top and bottom are un cleari
n the phot
croc clips could be for a charger but the wiring looks to small

Zig manuals can be found at https://www.freewebs.com/12voltsdc/zigmanuals.htm but as itsa ABI designed panel made by zig its hard to cross ref .

on the web site is a general operation manual for zig

I have manuals and wiring diagams for the following abi

1993
1995
jubalee 1993

dependent on the zig model fitted it may have a battery charger as part of the unit as it looks like the 230 volt iafter market install

The key is to find the approx year of the van and a simular zig panel ref number
