(Top Tip) Sterilizing Your Water Container

Hi Folks,

Just thought I'd share this idea with you all. At this time of year we are all getting ready for the start of the caravanning season. I have just sterilized my water containers using one of those steam wall paper thingies. Just remove the square plastic end that goes against the wall to steam the paper and place the pipe into the top hole of the water container, turn it on and let it steam for around 20 mins. Job done. Place a brick on top of the cap to hold the pipe in place.

HTH

What a great idea, I suppose you could add Oven, Barbe, Etc. With care of course, After watching the TV adverts for the proper steam cleaner and the burnt on deposits just waffting off! We bought one in a second hand shop for 40.00 quid, As new was £100, First try was on bottom of a frying pan, Did absolutly nothing at all, Then tried it on barbie, Nothing again, Luckilly i got my money back but taught me a lesson, However your idea seems sound for sterilising, And no extra expense if youve got one,

Don't think it would be any good on the oven or barbe as it dosen't give much of a blast. I was only thinking how they clean beer barrels and gave this idea a go and it works a treat, 10 to 20 mins is all it needs, be careful though the water containers get very hot.

Another good idea Geoff, although I think you would have to detach the pipe from under the sink then place the steam pipe inside the drain pipe, it should work.

All this came about because one of my grandkids must have spilt yogurt on one of the seat cushins and when I went to the caravan on the weekend I noticed a bit of mildew on the seat, I used the steamer to clean that off, again worked a treat.

Amused

I use my steam cleaner for all sorts of things from cleaning engines of cars to side of caravans, BBQ to worktops.
It also gets rid of smells from rooms e.g. Fish cooking smells, plus it cleans carpets and curtains etc.
Gets rid of bed mites too!! (We all have those whether we like it or not!)

I will be using my steam cleaner to steam clean the cooker top and oven, plus fridge in the caravan possibly tomorrow, if I can be bothered! Plus the Loo, wash basin and descale the shower head while I am at it!
