Why is it that When I'm using a hammer and chisel, someone says mined your fingers I immediately belt my thumb

Why is it, when I'm working outside, i can put something down and then not be able to find the darned thing until I'm packing up for the day?

I thought it was common knowledge that there was a black hole just big enough for a single sock incorporated in all dryers.

Why does a simple quick job always escalate?

I decided yesterday to change the flush unit and fill valve on our second toilet, having found the one I fitted earlier in the upstairs toilet an improvement. A simple task, practised before, should have been done in an hour easily.

Would the original copper pipe and brass fitting reconnect to the new valve, not on your nellie. In a corner, against a wall, difficult to get to - It screwed on a couple of threads then started to cross thread, then damaged the plastic thread on the valve. Tried numerous times, damaging the thread on the new valve even more. Had to take the valve back out, carefully file off the damaged bit on the end, check it was good with another fitting then try again - it crossed just as before.

I finally solved it by running a small screwdriver back and fourth along the fitting's brass thread and then it screwed on sweetly.

Why is it that you only remember after 5 hours of travelling that you've packed all those bits and bobs that aren't strictly essential... but no socks
