Pleasantly surprised

A few months ago we bought Jan a new van to be kitted out for the dogs. We bought a new Transit Connect, pretty much top of the range for a van, auto, cruise control, touch screen etc etc. After being away for ceramic coating on the paintwork and the dog caging, we got round to testing the towing electrics. It can’t tow the present van but we may downsize in the future.

We had specified a factory fit detachable towball with 13-pin electrics. I was pretty convinced, being a van, only the lights would be wired through but we connected up to the caravan today to see. The ATC fired up immediately so that was good news, the battery volts rose so that was connected through. Eventually the fridge found volts too. Of course all the lights worked too.

So happy with that. Apart from needing to lie on the floor to fit the towball ***128577;

Fine

Sounds great. Ceramic Coating?? new to me. Laying on your back to fit the plug seems to be normal for detectable tow balls, same with my Insignia.

P S Manned a stall at Braustone Festival on Sat. very hot. Didn't think much of the CL either.

Ceramic coating is a hard(ish) clear layer over the paintwork. Water just beads off it, makes washing (by hand) easy. The Connect we’ve treated to a 5 year version, the Volvo will get a 2 year version next month. The guy who does it is working up his small business and happy to support him. He did a brilliant job on the MGB before I sold it.

Braunston Festival: we were heading towards it last week and Chesterfield Canal Trust boat was often seen heading there.
