Fire in the Road

Got back from dinner time dog walk and a Fire engine was at the top of the road, with guys attending to what I thought was a small house fire, so wrong, a VW campervan had caught fire in the engine bay and spread to the internals. On returning from pub, only the front end was untouched, some personal bits was saved, the family owners are all fine and awaiting tow truck, the road require new tarmac. We all saying in the pub if the fuel tank had gone up or the calor gas it would of been worse.

Great job by Somerset Fire Service!

A caravan and car overturned on the A30 at Lifton just near us yesterday, I felt so sorry for the people in that.

Hi Sport, do you belong to the Buccaneer Club? We do and recently started going on their rallies which we really enjoyed.

We do belong to the club but because of my two business's we do not rally with the club because of not always having the time. Great van by the way, it was a shame that the family in camper had there holiday cut short but the main thing is they are still around for others.

Saddened to hear of their mishap but glad to know that they are safe, It is always best to get out as quickly as possible and if you can then turn off the gas without putting yourself or others in danger....

I think this happened so quick Lester, they turned into the start of our lane (to remove them from the A road because the inside had filled with fire and smoke) the house they had pulled up to tried to put it out and then rang the fire services inside of 5 minutes they were there and reached inside to get the calor gas out and then went about putting it out.

The tarmac melted and the council been and removed their chared remains and a local garage removed the VW, they were very lucky and also the guy at the top of the lane. I was driven to have a pint or two, it the talk of the village at the moment.
