Club sites V private sites

We are a member of both clubs c&cc for meets or rallying and c&m for our local weekend nip away but for our main holidays I'm finding private sites much cheaper for example lady heyes is £18-50p a night good facilities severn gorge adult only £20 a night in the area of club sites they are far cheaper so I'm thinking of cancelling our membership.

A sign of the times of club sites getting to expensive but we need the club's to act on our behalf over rules , laws ect so maybe worth keeping them for the information .

We have used quite a few commercial sites this year and none of them have been cheaper than Club sites. Tend to select a site on its location rather than cost.

I,m also a member of both clubs but also use commercial sites that have good up to club standard facilities reasonably priced but looking at some site costs I would have to take out a bank loan if I wanted to spend time on them with children

We belong to the CC for the CL network, Mayday and Red Pennant however in the past year we have not used any CC sites as found commercial sites cheaper and with more facilities. In addition, if we have used one CL in the past year I would be surprised.
When we joined the CC, sites were good value for money, but now ever year membership fees go up and the price of an over night stay has increased. Also there now seem to be more and longer peak periods?

We rarely use CC or private sites, CLs are our preferred pitch. I left the C&CC when they changed their site charging rates, which is silly really because we didnít use them!! Also we found their CSs not as good as CLs. All personal preferences of course.Thatís the beauty of caravanning.

We have only used a CL once and found it quite poor so had a bad time you will have to let me have a list of good ones Kerry my old now departed friend Bill Garner only ever used them in 50 years of caravanning

Sorry to hear that. I would estimate that over nearly 40 years of CL usage there are probably only about 5-10% we wouldn't return to.

We used to be happy with a tap, a rubbish bin, and somewhere to empty the loo. Now I would add ECU as a-nice-to-have extra. But we have stayed on CLs whose facilities echo full facility sites too. Slade Farm at Witcham, Cambs is a case in point and it's about 2-3 miles from where our daughter lives and opened this year. Heatherbield at Little Downham (also Cambs) is one of our favourite. Manor Farm, Kings Ripton nr. Huntingdon we use often too.
