Thing is, you can't believe what people say. I was told it was OK to go to the Supermarket, wearing a face mask and gloves. NOT TRUE, All the other people had cloths on.

NZ our lock down commenced last night for 4 weeks with suggestions it may extend. Also as of yesterday a national state of emergency has been declared.
Our number of infected rises rapidly and will continue that we do know.
So for now we co-operate in our own best interest and then that of others around us.
All the very best to you folk.
Cheers

Well almost completed our first official week of lock down come Thursday. For us we are close to two week already with very restricted trips to supermarket only one of us at anytime. As always 99% of the population appear to be compliant but there are a few d--- heads who show and demonstrate zero regard for both themselves and the rest of us. So our police are beginning to become a little upset. These are the very people who will or could see our restrictions extended and failure to flatten the climbing curve of affected people. Now just short of 600 and our first death over the weekend.

Given it is our summer holiday season the weather now and prior to this has been terrible so frankly being stuck at home is not all bad.

Hope you folk are fine but news suggest your country is going through a very rough patch so our thoughts are with you all.
Kindest regards
John

I would rather stay in and live to enjoy the next year even if the lockdown lasts 6 months. Do some people really think that Covid-19 is going to disappear within the next year? Somehow I doubt it.

Well! Next door neighbours cat made it's presence felt. Being at home all the time, I open the van to ventilate it, leaving door and windows open. Went down in the morning to open up, and was met by the cut sprinting out of the van. It had, on the carpet by the toilet, boy it took some cleaning off. OK now.

Well tomorrow we find out if the country reduces to level 2. I am not sure anymore as the government is clearly not being upfront with the public and many incorrect issues are starting to surface. But that's the norm for our current government.

As for many people they are feed up and frankly many are no longer following the lock down rules. The cars on the road and people at various popular spots is just like pre Covid 19. We may see retail open and cafes bars etc but all with tight restraints on their numbers present and various serving methods. For food and bar no longer go to counter, you must sit and be waited on by one staff member and number of patrons dramatically reduced plus social distancing a minimum of 1 mtr

So some businesses are welcoming the new rules others are not so happy as cost will increase and low numbers required for meeting break even will mean their business is just not profitable.

The journey we are all on, has a very long time to run yet in my opinion.

Just been watching that Marr bloke this morning, complaining to a minister about alleged leaks to the press, and the headlines in the Papers, that have let people think that some restrictions are being lifted, leading to parks being packed.

For weeks now the same man/bbc and press have been pushing for details on how we would come out of lock down, complaining about the lack of information. Boris has taken stick for not making it clear, His main reason was that he didn't want people to take advantage.

Press always jump on the governments back when it dose a u-turn . Well I think the press have bought the oosluum bird to life, boy what a u-turn.

Rant over.

PS no idea how said birds name is spelt.

We are having the same confusion. Our P M makes a statement without details ( she is very good at that) then you read the fine print and presto, the announcement is laced with so many conditions it makes the new rules a complete farce.
Visit families spend time with loved ones she says but the real rules are No more than 10 at any gathering and no longer than 2 hours. The 2 hour rule slipped in nicely. But shops will open no more than 100 at any gathering.

It's not a good situation for any of us but if it keeps the infection toll low and death rate very low lets all do our bit.
