caravan prices 2015...

Well we have just been to Leisure Sales nr Sandbach off M6 and looked at a few new vans..blimey..can they get any dearer...approx 27 thousand for a lunar delta..ridiculous i reckon...and some are just too luxy like for practical use..i.e. velvet and leather ..not good for families or pets...dont know what you all think...maybe you have a luxury van and love it..

So are vans outpricing themselves off the market?

Yes Chris they are Leisure sales are my friends John, Dianne, and Becky .
We looked at the quasar and delta but the extra price for what you get is nonsensical thats why the quasar and the swift sprite range are making a come back they are cheaper

Fine

I could never afford a brand new caravan; and i wouldnt pay that kind of money anyway. I have been very fortunate that the two caravans i've owned were clean and comfy, and very fortunate that i am good with my hands, to fix them, put them back on the road.
The Avondale with its sponge, front end; fixed that, and used the caravan for a few years after; the Abbey, you may remember had its troubles in the back; i sorted that out too, rebuilt and sealed, and its still in fine fettle! The Avondale was £2100 with the awning, and the Abbey was £1500. I cut my teeth with caravan repairs, on the Avondale, and learned even more with the Abbey!
I go to the dealers and look for ideas, and i look at the older vans rather than the new ones; why get all moist over something i can't afford and will never have? If i'm at a dealers, its because i was passing and popped in for a look (i love caravan accessory shops at dealers, and when we go away, i will go and see what goodies they have, this spawns ideas!); or i need a part.

So far as I am concerned, everything I buy has to be cost effective. Buying new, at new prices would not even come close to being cost effective. Why pay a fortune out for a new caravan, to suffer the rapid loss in value, the outlay and etc. - when for the same or even much less expenditure I could pay for rather plush hotels?

I like my caravan because its there, always available and we can take off at a moments notice to where ever we fancy. Usually we can book the site on route, even if we forgot the evening before. Our only limitation is to avoid school holidays.

chris:
If you shop around and play one dealer up against the other you can save a few grand. Alternatively wait until the end of the season and you will save thousands. We bought our Delta new in Oct 2011 and got £5000 knocked off the price.
